Me, tech and the world.

As a sys admin/geek one of the issues I have always had with working in an office compaired to just ‘tinkering’ at home is time management. The first major issue is the number of daily interruptions that Iface, to name but a few

  • Co-workers asking for work (eg other sys admins)
  • PHB’s asking for work
  • Customer queries

The main problem with these interruptions is not the length of the interruption it is the effect that has on the work I am doing…..I loose my stride. In the past my solution to this problem has been to fight with the interruptions, as a sys admin I believe I can solve any problem. However after many years of trying all I have managed to do is loose a little hair and a lot of time. However I have now found what I believe to be (at least part of) the answer: Time management for system administrators

Now while I could rant on and on here about how great the book is and what a change it has made to MY life, this is not very useful to anyone else unless you are an exact clone of me (and if you are, come find me…”There can be only one”). What I will say however is go buy it, the book costs all of £11.38 new or £4.95 used from Amazon, I have seen people spend more on one drink in a bar, and this could allow you to finish that project that has been sitting on the back burner or get some more free time to go and spend on that non-computer related hobby you have always wanted to have ;)

Here are a few of the reviews, I hope you find the book helpful, take care.
